KABETOGAMA TOWNSHIP

REORGANIZATION MEETING

April 6, 2010

 

Chairman Robert Nevalainen opened the meeting at 9:45 pm.  Board members present were Supervisors Paul Kiner, Edward Town, Clerk Mary Manninen, Deputy Clerk Tomczak and Treasurer Jill Kiner along with 2 guests.

 

The Agenda was presented and approved on a motion by Supervisor Town, seconded by Supervisor Kiner, motion carried.

 

The minutes from the April 7, 2009 reorganization meeting were read and approved on a motion by Supervisor Kiner, seconded by Supervisor Town, motion carried.

 

Chairman, Vice-Chairman – Supervisor Town moved that Robert Nevalainen remain the Chairman and Edward Town remain Vice-Chairman, seconded by Supervisor Kiner, motion carried. 

 

Board Meeting Schedule – Supervisor Kiner moved to accept the following dates for board meetings; 1/5, 2/2, 3/2, 3/9, 4/6, 5/4, 6/1, 7/6, 8/3, 9/7, 10/5, 11/9, 12/7/2010 and the planning commission meetings quarterly on 1/4, 4/5, 7/5, 10/4/2010 all to be held at the Kabetogama Fire Hall.  Seconded by Supervisor Town, motion carried.

 

Official Newspaper – Supervisor Town moved to use the Journal as our official newspaper.  Seconded by Supervisor Kiner, motion carried.

 

Road Supervisor – Supervisor Kiner moved to keep Supervisor Town as road supervisor, seconded by Supervisor Nevalainen, motion carried.

 

Meeting Notice Posting Place – Supervisor Nevalainen moved to keep the posting places at Gateway Store and the billboard sign across from the Kabetogama Community Hall and the Township Web Site.  Seconded by Supervisor Town motion carried.

 

Bank Designation – Supervisor Nevalainen moved to use Bremer Bank and Border State Bank as our Financial Institutions.  Seconded by Supervisor Town, motion carried.

 

Compensation –

            Supervisors – ($50.00 per meeting attended), Chairman $12.00/hr

            Treasurer – ($50.00 per meeting, $12.00/hr)

            Deputy Treasurer – ($50.00 per meeting when filling in for Treasurer only)

            Clerk – ($50.00 per meeting attended, $12.00/hr)

            Deputy Clerk – ($50.00 per meeting when filling in for Clerk only) 

            Planning Commission Board Members – ($50.00 per meeting attended)

            Township Board Members – ($18.00/hr compensation for Township work that takes a board member away from their person jobs)

            Election Judge – ($12.00/hr)

            Mileage Rate – follow current Federal Mileage Rate at that time.

 

 

These rates were approved on a motion by Supervisor Nevalainen, seconded by Supervisor Town, motion carried.

 

Relief Association – Supervisor Nevalainen moved to have Supervisors Kiner and Town on the Board of the Relief Association.  Seconded by Supervisor Kiner, motion carried.

 

Contracts – Supervisor Nevalainen moved to use Greg House as contractor to perform the following duties; mow the Arrowhead hiking and biking trail not more than 2 times per season and no more than 3 hours at a time, fill in wash outs and the use of the bobcat and gravel at $100.00.  On township roads, cleaning up after storms and at the canister site push up brush with cat at $35.00 and hour for not more than three hours.  Seconded by Supervisor Town, motion carried.

 

 Supervisor Nevalainen moved to adjourn this meeting at 10:04 pm, seconded by Supervisor Town, motion carried.
