Old Business:

The road signs in the area have been replaced and or added by St. Louis County.

Ron Moyer, representing the Kabetogama Fire Department, requested the Kabetogama Township help find someone to bulldoze the landfill at the canister site, so that the Fire Department could burn it after it snows. The Minnesota Department of Forestry will be contacted along with local operators. Tabled to the December meeting.
A letter was read from St. Louis County regarding state cuts to Townships in Market Value Homestead Credit.

The State of Minnesota will be cutting the amount of Market Value Homestead credit for 2003 & 2004. The amounts for the Town of Kabetogama to be cut are $1,501.00 in 2003 and $2,251.00 in 2004. Therefore, the Township will be short these amounts levied. The Town of Kabetogama could hold a special Town meeting to increase the levy by these amounts. It must be rectified by December 29th 2003. The Supervisors voted unanimously not to increase the levy monies by these amounts.

Eldon Zahn a resident of Sunset Forest Road again asked the Township Supervisors if there was any way the township could help these residents with the issue of improving their private road. Chairman Jack McMahon had spoken with a Township Association lawyer who advised the Township not to become involved in this matter. These residents are also seeking their own legal consul.

New Business:

Malene Tomzcak reported that the improvements to the Kiosk and surrounding area are moving along just fine. St. Louis County Engineers have agreed to help out somewhat with the project.

The Supervisors decided that there is no need for Bridget Chard to do any more work right now for the Waste Water Treatment project.

There was a discussion regarding the Township computer. It is now in need of virus upgrades, which Mary will take care of. This computer is very short on memory. Many suggestions were made regarding this matter but no action was taken at this time.

Lee Herseth asked that Melhiems road be plowed this winter and possibly graded. Supervisor Richard McGregor will take the appropriate action.

The Kabetogama Fire Department’s new building is coming along fine. Paul Cloyd is working on the electric and heat still needs to be installed.
