KABETOGAMA TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING November 1, 2005
Chairman Edward Town opened the board meeting at 7:10 pm with the Pledge of Allegiance. Board members present were Chairman Edward Town, Supervisors Robert Nevalainen, Richard McGregor, Clerk Mary Manninen, and Treasurer Jean Reichow along with 12 guests.
The Agenda for this meeting was approved with one addition, canister site, on a motion by Chairman Edward Town. Seconded by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen, motion carried.
A guest speaker Robert T. Ruppe from Couri, MacArthur & Ruppe law offices presented his proposal for legal services. This firm represents 7 cities located in Wright, Stearns Meeker and Mille Lacs Counties and more than 85 townships in central Minnesota and throughout the state. They are currently representing 8 townships in constructing environmental subordinate service districts. This firm is proposing to provide civil municipal legal services to the Lake Kabetogama Township.
The board read the minutes from the October meeting. They were approved on a motion by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen, seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
Chairman Edward Town moved to recess the board meeting so the special meeting to approve the Pucks Point Subordinate Service Sewer District. Seconded by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen. Motion carried.
9:00 pm Supervisor Richard McGregor moved to reconvene the November 1st board meeting. Seconded by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was read by Jean Reichow and approved on a motion by Chairman Edward Town. Seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
Lodging Tax Account,
Old Business:
Road maintenance Supervisor Bob Nevalainen stated county road sign for Ness road had been received. The board further discussed with Robert Ruppe the drainage problems on State Point Road. Proposed solutions included culverts or ditches. Easements and right of ways need to be verified or established.
State Point road still needs cleaned up after the wind storm we had this fall. Greg House will be contacted for this job and the bill is not to exceed $200.00. Supervisor Robert Nevalainen will contact Greg House. A short form contract will be signed by Mr. House who will also provide the insurance forms needed for this contract.
Walleye Painting:
The bill for the painting of the Kabetogama Walleye was presented and approved to be paid on a motion by Chairman Edward Town. Seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
NIMS was brought up briefly. Robert Ruppe stated that he may have a resolution we can use.
New Business:
Mr. House will also be asked to use his cat to push up the piles of debris at the canister site to be burned by the Kabetogama Fire Department. This will also be part of the contract for Mr. House. This was approved on a motion by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen. Seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
Supervisor Robert Nevalainen stated that we are still paying the county to snow plow Puck's Point road. The county has not been plowing this road because of obstructions. Clerk Mary Manninen will send a letter to Jack Schelde stating that the township is plowing this road and we should not be charged for their service.
Claims for approval – There was a motion to approve these claims by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen, Seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Supervisor Richard McGregor, seconded by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen, motion carried.
