KABETOGAMA TOWNSHIP

REGULAR MEETING

October 3, 2006

 

Chairman Robert Nevalainen opened the board meeting at 7:07 pm.  Board members present were Chairman Robert Nevalainen, Supervisors Richard McGregor, Edward Town, Clerk Mary Manninen and Treasurer Jean Reichow along with 8 guests.  All attending recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Agenda – approve agenda with a change to move NIMS to old business.  Motion to approve made by Supervisor Edward Town, seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor, motion carried.

 

Minutes – the minutes of the September 5th meeting were read and approved on a motion by Supervisor Richard McGregor, seconded by Supervisor Edward Town.  Motion carried.

Supervisor Edward Town moved to accept the treasurer’s reports as read, seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor.  Motion carried.

 

Old Business:

 

Chairman Robert Nevalainen was told that when Kabetogama officially became a township they inherited the three township roads.  Clerk Mary Manninen was asked to send a letter to Jack Schelde requesting St. Louis County plow State Point and Melhiems roads this 06-07 season.

 

Planning Commission – Refer to the township web site for the Planning Commission minutes under Advisory Committee, Planning Commission.

 

Cell Phone Service – the township received information that there is a good possibility that the area will have cell phone service by next March or April.  This information has not been confirmed to date.  More news later.

 

Trails – the area trails were groomed once again and seem to be in very good shape.  There is questions concerning the trail head beginning here at Kabetogama get more info from Bob.

 

Subordinate Sewer District – Shane Sparks from NAWE firm came up to the Kabetogama area to do some soil testing and look at a possible site for the sewer district.  This site is near Woodenfrog and is owned by the DNR.  Shane sent a e-mail stating that this site looks good and is a possibility.  More information will be given at the November board meeting.  Mr. Sparks will be attending this meeting.

 

NIMS – All of the Township Supervisors have taken the NIMS testing and have passed.  Most of the fire department members have taken the test it is now at Ash River for those members to take.

 

New Business:  NONE

 

Claims for approval – There was a motion to approve these claims by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Supervisor Edward Town seconded.  Motion carried
