KABETOGAMA TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING September 6, 2005
Chairman Edward Town opened the board meeting at 7:00 pm with the Pledge of Allegiance. Board members present were Chairman Edward Town, Supervisors Robert Nevalainen, Richard McGregor, Clerk Mary Manninen, and Treasurer Jean Reichow along with 17 guests.
The Agenda for this meeting was approved with one addition to the new business, finding an Attorney, on a motion by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Seconded by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen, motion carried.
The board read the minutes from the August meeting. They were approved on a motion by Supervisor Richard McGregor, seconded by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was read by Jean Reichow and approved on a motion by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen, seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.

Old Business:
Special Meeting – Clerk Mary Manninen attended a special meeting at the Clinton Town Hall on Wednesday August 31 to review the St. Louis County Election Equipment Plan. There is funding available for each precinct to obtain a voting machine. These machines will be used by any hearing or visually impaired persons wishing to vote. The cost to our township each year will be for programming the machine for elections. Currently there is no definite numbers to report because the state has not certified any one machine. We should have exact costs to report at our November or December meetings.
Planning Commission – The supervisors agreed that this committee should have its first meeting on September 20th. The exact time and location will be posted on the board across from the community hall and also in the Voyageur Sentinal Newspaper.
Waste Water Treatment Meeting – the board of supervisors has decided to postpone the meeting on the 19th of September for the proposed sewer district. The board felt they needed more information before having this meeting. The board of supervisors will hold a special meeting on the 20th of September at 7:00 pm at the Kabetogama Community Hall. Bridget Chard will be attending this meeting to answer any questions the board has. A new date and time for the proposed sewer district meeting will be set at this time.
Road Contract – Supervisor Robert Nevalainen spoke with three different contractors about gravel work on the township roads. Chairman Edward Town moved to contract with Tom Long to haul 80 yards of class 5 gravel for State Point road. Seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor, motion carried. Mr Long will also do the spreading of the gravel. A contract will be written and signed. Bob has already obtained all the insurance papers needed from the contractor.
New Business:
Township Attorney – Supervisor Robert Nevalainen will look into obtaining an attorney for our township. He will report back at our next meeting.
Claims for approval – There was a motion to approve these claims by Chairman Edward Town, Seconded by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen. Motion carried
