Old Business:
Roads: Signs for State Point road have been ordered. Bridget Chard questioned the status of the Township roads whether they have been officially accepted by the township from the county. If not if the county could be held responsible for work needed on said roads. Bob gave her the name of the person to call at the county level. Alan Burchell stated that some of the road signs are becoming brushed in and are becoming hard to see. Bob replied that brushing along the roads is to begin soon.
911 Signs: Signs are installed and GPS recording has begun. It will be put in the paper that residents may remove their old signs and keep the signs and posts if so desired. The ones that are not removed by residents will be removed at a later date by the fire department. Jack McMahon questioned if new signage would be installed in the fire district outside of the township. Bob replied that the Firewise grant only applies to the township, but if some one wanted to pursue the project of getting 911 signage outside the township it would be most welcome.
Planning Commission report: There were not enough members present for a September meeting. The committee went over the concerns that were brought up at the Community Action Meeting. The public was asked to please attend the Planning Commission Meetings. The clerk was asked to change the time of the Planning Commission meetings to 7:00 pm and that the web site and the paper notice are changed to reflect the new time.
Zip Code: The question was asked why St. Louis County cannot resolve the problem and make sure that we are included in the county listing of zip codes. It has been requested that those having problems because of the current zip code write letters stating their problems, so that the letters could be forwarded to the county and post office. To date no letters have been received.
Cell Phone Towers: Need someone to look into it.
Other: Chairman Robert Nevalainen reported that he had inspected the Arrowhead Trail and parts of the Kab Ash Trail. The Arrowhead Trail is in great shape and could be used as a biking and hiking trail if kept up during the summer. The entrance to the Kab Ash Trail is very uninviting. The middle part of the trail is in great shape. It was suggested that the Park be approached again about allowing mechanical devices in to groom the trail, also to contact the state about brushing the Arrowhead Trail for use during the summer.
New Business:
Primary Elections: To be held on September 12, 2006 at the Kabetogama Fire Hall from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Other: A letter sent by Jim Jansen, Voyageurs Lodge Resort, in support of the Subordinate Sewer District was read by Chairman Robert Nevalainen.
