KABETOGAMA TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING August 1, 2006
Chairman Robert Nevalainen opened the board meeting at 7:05 pm. Board members present were Chairman Robert Nevalainen, Supervisors Richard McGregor, Edward Town, Clerk Mary Manninen, and Treasurer Jean Reichow along with 12 guests. All attending recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Agenda – Chairman Robert Nevalainen moved to accept the agenda with one change. Move Bridget Chard to the first spot on the agenda. seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
Bridget Chard read the agenda for the addition of John Seville to the Pucks Point Sewer District. Bridget brought the original deed for the Seville property. The sewer district resolution will be amended and the district will be expanded. Supervisor Richard McGregor moved to pass a resolution declaring a hearing on a petition to amend and expand the Pucks Point Subordinate Service District. The motion was seconded by Chairman Robert Nevalainen. Motion passed.
Bridget gave a brief description of what the township will need to do in the future for finding funs and such for this sewer district.
Minutes – the minutes of the July 11th meeting were read and approved on a motion by Chairman Robert Nevalainen, seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report –
Kabetogama Township Checking Account,
Lodging Tax Account,
Supervisor Edward Town moved to accept the treasurer’s report as read, seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
New Business:
Jen Gelo – brought the petition signed by approximately 55% of the persons in the area of the proposed West End Sewer District. Clerk Mary Manninen received the signatures.
Xerox machine – the copy machine has been fixed. The repair person suggests that the machine be turned off while not in use. This will keep it performing better and last longer.
Old Business:
911 signs – the issue on State Point has been resolved. All the 911 signs have been installed but there may be some adjusting in the future.
Planning Committee – there was no meeting for this month.
Zip Code – residents still feel that we need a new zip code that coincides with the county we live in. A note will be posted on the township web site for area residents who have had personal difficulty resulting from the zip code to send their letter to the Clerk of the township and these letters of complaint will all be sent to our state representatives.
Community Center – the committee has met with a grant writer from Bremer Bank, has had communication with Andy Hubley and has gotten a person to check soils for the sewer system.
Claims for approval – There was a motion to approve these claims by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Supervisor Edward Town seconded. Motion carried
The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Chairman Robert Nevalainen, seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
