KABETOGAMA TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING June 7, 2005
Chairman Edward Town opened the board meeting at 7 pm with the Pledge of Allegiance. Board members present were Supervisors Edward Town, Robert Nevalainen, Treasurer Jean Reichow and Sande Moyer taking minutes for Clerk Mary Manninen, along with 11 guests. Supervisor Richard McGregor was unable to attend due to illness.
The Agenda for this meeting was approved on a motion by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen. Seconded by Chairman Edward Town, motion carried.
The board read the minutes from the May meeting. They were approved on a motion by Chairman Edward Town, seconded by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was reviewed by the board and approved with one correction. Change the name Richard Nevalainen to Robert Nevalainen. Chairman Edward Town moved to approve the report. Supervisor Robert Nevalainen seconded. Motion carried.

Old Business:
A discussion on the 2006 Levy was held, moderated by Ron Moyer. Each item was read and opened for questions and discussion. There was discussion on the road work that was done on State Point this year and work to be done on the township roads in the future. There were questions concerning the money budgeted for Waste Water planning and community improvements. The overall planning for the community is on going with individual sewer districts now in the planning state. The 2006 Levy will be voted on at the July township meeting. This will be published in the Voyageur Sentinal newspaper and a notice will be put on the community board. Also, a copy of the proposed levy will be put on the township web site available for downloading.

Cell phone service update - nothing new to report. Jim Jensen from Crane Lake is proceeding with negotiations and they are progressing well.
Tax delinquent property update - The delinquent property has been removed from the available list and is no longer a consideration for a Community Hall site.
Roads - Roads are in good shape. Road signs for Pucks Point and State Point roads have been ordered.
Other – Larry Warrington discussed the letter to be sent to the county auditor’s office for the amounts to be assessed the 6 unorganized townships for coverage of Fire and EMS protection. The amount to be requested is $25,200.00.
New Business:
Bike trail parking lot – Lee Herseth representing the lake Association was to address the board, but was unavailable. There is a proposal for a parking lot at the entrance to the Arrowhead Snowmobile trail. A portion of the trail has been graveled and will be open as a mountain bike trail. Discussion was held as to whether this trail would be open for ATV use. Bob Nevalainen stated that it is open for ATV use. Paul Kiner, stated that in other parts of the state, snowmobile trails had been paved over for use by bike riders and then they have been closed to snowmobile use and that care should be taken that it does not happen here. Further discussion will be held when a member of the Lake Association can attend a Township meeting.
Paul Kiner stated that a Planning Commission Meeting should be held soon. Notice of such meeting will be displayed on the Community Board.
There were no claims to approve at this time.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm. on a motion by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen, seconded by Chairman Edward Town, motion carried.
