Old Business:
911 signs – All residents of the area should have received a letter from the county stating whether or not they would be receiving a new address. The Kabetogama Fire Department is still in the process of installing the new posts for the 911 signs. The new signs are ready and should arrive around June 7th. The residents that are getting new addresses and road names will have their new signs installed first to help guide any emergency response teams in the event that they would be needed at any of these residences. St. Louis County paid for 79 of the new posts and signs. We are responsible for the remaining costs but we will be reimbursed from the FireWise Grant.
Supervisor Edward Town moved to pay in full, the bill for the 911 signs when it arrives. The motion was seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
There have been some new road signs installed around the Kabetogama area. Chairman Robert Nevalainen contacted Bryan Boder, Traffic Engineer for St. Louis County, to ask why the stop signs have been installed at the ends of many roads in the area. He was told that all roads must have stop sings at the end of the road regardless whether they are private or not.
Residents of State Point and Pucks Point roads attended this meeting to state their disapproval of installing single lane only road signs on their roads without discussing it with them first. Chairman Robert Nevalainen moved to rescind the motion made at the May 2nd. Board meeting that was to purchase 4 single lane only signs to be installed at the beginning and end of the State Point and Pucks Point roads. Road narrows signs will be installed on the hills on State Point Road. This motion was seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried.
Zip Code – A letter was received from the Minneapolis Postal Service stating that they could not change our zip code for numerous reasons. The Township board would like this letter and the original letter sent to the postal service requesting the change, to be sent to St. Louis County so they are aware of the situation.
Paul Kiner gave a report from the Planning meeting that was attended by Bob Nevalainen, Paul Kiner, Alan Burchell and Andy Hubley from the ARDC. The minutes of this meeting can be found on the Township web site.
