TOWNSHIP BACK REGULAR
MEETING June 1, 2004 Chairman Jack McMahon opened the board meeting at 7:05 pm with the Pledge of Allegiance. All board members were present along with 12 community residents. The Agenda for this meeting was approved on a motion by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Seconded by Chairman Jack McMahon, motion carried. The board read and approved the May board meeting minutes with a motion by Chairman Jack McMahon. Seconded by Supervisor Edward Town, motion carried. The Treasurer’s report was reviewed by the board and approved on a motion by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Seconded by Supervisor Edward Town, motion carried. It was decided by the board that the Treasurer’s report should begin to include the balance from the CD that was purchased back in January. Kabetogama Township Checking Account, Beginning Balance $11,877.35 Income $1.54 Disbursements $909.48 End Balance $10,969.41 Lodging Tax Account, there was no activity to report for May. The board reviewed the mail received from St. Louis County Planning Dept regarding Pine Aire Resort’s building permit to expand their RV campground. No action was necessary. Old Business: Russ Kingery along with the help of the Kabetogama Fire department are trying to get 911 signs to all residents of the area.. Some areas of the lake may have two signs, one at the beginning of the main road that would have a cluster of homes further in on a secondary road. They are trying to complete this project by the fall. Waste Water Treatment Committee, Chairman Jack McMahon received copies of the preliminary Draft for the Kabetogama Township Community Action Plan Amendment dated 5/12/04. The board would like this draft posted to the Township web site ASAP. There will be a hearing on June 28th, 5:00 pm at the Kabetogama Community Hall to review this Draft and answer any questions from the community. Kabetogama Fire Department, The Kabetogama Fire Department requested that this year, the $10,000.00 budgeted for the new building on the 2003 levy, be paid in full rather that two payments of $5,000.00 each. A motion was made by Supervisor Edward Town to pay the Kabetogama Fire Department the entire first payment of $10,000.00 when the first half of the levy money comes in sometime in July. This motion was seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor, motion carried. The Kabetogama Fire Department receives their own levy money from St. Louis County through the Kabetogama Township. New Business: The Administrative Policy Document was reviewed and tabled to a future meeting. Supervisor Richard McGregor gave the board the information for the next hazardous waste pickup in our area. This will take place on August 19, 2004 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Kabetogama canister site. No businesses are allowed to take part in this pickup. The Kabetogama canister site is now ready to be burnt again. The Kabetogama Fire department will take charge of the burn. There will be a community meeting on June 8, 2004 at 7:00 pm at the Kabetogama Community Hall regarding the future of the hall itself. There will be open discussion on the many possibilities the club has researched. The entire community is encouraged to attend. Roads, Grading and gravel is needed on Melhiem’s, Pucks Point and Northern Lights roads. Road supervisor Richard McGregor will take care of getting this work done. Claims, The following claims were approved on a motion by Supervisor Edward Town. Seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor, motion carried.
