Summary
Planning Commission Present: Alan Burchell, Niles Wilkins, Bob Nevalainen, Paul Kiner.
Others Present: ARDC (Andy Hubley, Ellen Pillsbury, Ben VanTassel) and Community Club Building Committee.
1. Welcome and Introductions
Chair Kiner called the meeting to order at 7:05pm and welcomed the Community Club Building Committee and asked that everyone introduce them self.
2. Committee Business
The meeting summary from the last meeting was read.
3. Recommendations
The meeting began with a presentation by the Community Club Building Committee about the progress being made with the new building. The club has attained land and is in the process of looking for grants for the planning stages of the building. Hubley explained the importance of a community center in the area and if utilized correctly it could strengthen the community.
Recommendation development was next on the agenda with four chapters that have not been covered. In discussing the community chapter, recommendations for the community entrance, Elsworth Rock Gardens, Fire and EMS issues, communication technology, and the cemetery were developed. Transportation had several issues to cover including; the necessity of being added to the 10-year County construction plan, wider shoulders, speed limits, and a roads review. Wastewater and housing were also talked about. The need for affordable housing with rising land values was discussed.
4. Next Meeting Scheduling
The possibility of holding a public meeting next spring was discussed because then the seasonal residents would be back in the area and able to attend. The next meeting date was not set, but will likely be in January 2007. Hubley will be communicating via email with further document development.
