Old Business –

PPSSD – Julie Kennedy will put together a package for the PPSSD members and our board as an update on the project and include some fee options.  This will be on the agenda for our January meeting.  There is the possibility that the State may do a land exchange with St. Louis County for the drain field that is needed for the PPSSD and the cost to us may be zero.  Funding is now an issue with all the changes in the government after elections.  Meetings are being planned with some of these newly elected officials.  When and if they happen it will be announced so people may attend.

VNP Clean Waters Board – the board is trying to set up a meeting with the new Representative Chip Cravaack to discuss this project.

Roads and Trails – Nothing to report.

Community Center Planning Committee – Supervisor Kiner will contact Attorney Ruppe with more questions regarding the funding that was voted on at a special meeting regarding the Community Center.  Chairman Nevalainen will meet with Mike Kolb at the proposed site for the community building/town hall to take soil samples for the sewer system.  Chairman Nevalainen moved to ask Helgeson Logging if they could cut out some trees on this site while they are back there logging.  The township does not want to pay more than $500.00 for this.  Supervisor Kiner seconded the motion.  Motion carried.  Chairman Nevalainen will make the contact and call Clerk Manninen to report back to Supervisor’s Kiner and Town with the results.  Changes may be made at that time.

Ostego Hospital District – The law firm of Couri, MacArthur, Ruppe has been hired to work on having the State Statutes changed regarding how some areas are connected to hospital districts.  This firm is contacting many townships and may ask for letters of support from them and ask that they write letters to their state representatives stating their concerns on this matter.

Township Boundary Line Extension – Tabled

Ice Road – The Board of Supervisors has decided to invite Mr. Ward to our next planning commission meeting on January 3, 2011 to discuss the ice road further.

Construction Materials Canister – The Township will get bids on gravel and hauling for next spring. This will add a construction materials canister at the Kabetogama canister site.

Kabetogama Fire Department Contract – the Township Board of Supervisors will met 15 minutes before their regular January meeting with the board of the Kabetogama Fire Department to go over the contract with the township.

Neighborhood Watch – tabled to the next meeting.

Senior Citizens Center – Clerk Manninen drafted up the new resolution regarding a property tax exemption on 1 acre of real estate that the Senior Citizens Center leases.  Chairman Nevalainen and Clerk Manninen signed this document.  This resolution was approved at the November 9, 2010 meeting.

New Business –

Planning Commission Board – Jill Kiner filed a letter of interest with the Township to become a member on the Kabetogama Township Planning Commission.  Chairman Nevalainen moved to accept the Jill Kiner to the Planning Commission Board to replace a member who resigned, seconded by Supervisor Town, motion carried.  Supervisor Nevalainen will bring this recommendation to the Planning Commission and also let them know that if any of the members whos term is up do not wish to continue on the board, Rusty Lehto and Mary Manninen have stated that they would fill in if these positions become available.

Supervisor Town moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:55 pm., seconded by Supervisor Kiner, motion carried.

Respectfully Submitted,

Mary Manninen, Clerk,
