KABETOGAMA TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING July 3, 2007 Chairman Robert Nevalainen opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Board members present were Supervisors Richard McGregor, Edward Town, Deputy Clerk Marlene Tomczak, Clerk Mary Manninen and Treasurer Jill Kiner along with 5 guests. All attending recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Agenda – three items were added to the agenda, Marlene Tomczak was added to Community Hall news, Engineering Contract was added to Pucks Point and trails were added to Old Business, other. The agenda was approved with the additions by Supervisor Edward Town. Seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried. Minutes – the minutes of the June 5th meeting were reviewed by all attending. Supervisor Richard McGregor moved to accept the June minutes. Supervisor Edward Town seconded. Motion carried. Supervisor Edward Town moved to accept the treasurer’s reports as read seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried. Supervisor Richard McGregor moved to renew the CD that comes due on July 9, 2007. Seconded by Supervisor Edward Town. Motion carried. At this time the 2007 Annual meeting was reconvened to vote on the 2008 levy. Clerk Mary Manninen opened the 2007 annual meeting at 7:15 pm to vote on the 2008 levy. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm. The levy was approved for $113,550.00 on a motion by Edward Town, seconded by Richard McGregor. Motion carried. Old Business: Roads – the township roads have been graded and calcium chloride has been put on them. Community Hall – Sande Moyer reported that the planning and building committee met with John Carmody, an architect on staff at the Univ. of MN, and other members of his staff on June 21 and discussed plans for the new building. The group felt there were several places that could work for the new building. Some sort of proposal has been promised by August. This group has obtained a $10,000.00 grant towards this project. Marlene Tomczak thought it would be a good idea to have a new title search done on this property. Supervisor Edward Town moved to have Minnesota Title and Abstract Company do the search. Seconded by Supervisor Robert Nevalainen. Motion carried. Planning Commission – There was no planning commission meeting in July. Sometime in August there will be public meeting to approve the Township Comprehensive Plan. When a specific date is set a notice will be published in the Voyageur Sentinel newspaper. Pucks Point SSD – On July 18th Shane Sparks will be up in the area to do site by site property inspections for design work on the project. At this time there will also be a meeting with John Stegmeir and three other DNR personell, Shane Sparks and Ed Town to discuss land negotiations. Supervisor Edward Town moved to have Bridget Chard, Consultant, to go ahead and secure financing. Seconded by Supervisor Richard McGregor. Motion carried. A new contract was submitted by Jacques Whitford, NAWE, Inc. This proposal is designed to provide continued service by JW NAWE up to the point of design for the project, at which point a new contract will be submitted. This contract is for $10,000.00. Supervisor Edward Town moved to accept the new contract. Supervisor Richard McGregor seconded. Motion carried. The district has received petitions from Whipple’s, Lindberg’s, J & B and will be getting a petition from Puttika. Trails – Supervisor Robert Nevalainen has asked Greg House to mow the trails. New Business: None. Claims: Claims for approval – There was a motion by Supervisor Richard McGregor to approve the following claims. Supervisor Edward Town seconded. Motion carried
